I experienced homelessness due to rent increase at Elton Court, Fairview. It was after one night out on the streets, I was put into a hostel in Amien Street (Crosscare).

I stayed there for approx 3 months and then I was moved to Mountjoy Street, I was there for approx 9 months, then I was moved back again to Amien Street (Crosscare) and from there I got housed.

I enjoyed the project as now I do volunteering a few evenings a week with The homelessness and help with their needs. What I enjoyed was linking with nature and enjoying the peace that surrounds parks etc.

The goal I would like to see? – that programmes be put in place to deal with drug/alcohol addictions which is 50% of homelessness, the other 50% with rent increases need to get housed.
